THE ADVOCATE OF OUR LIFE
THE TRIAL OF MANKIND

[23:50] Father we bow in your presence tonight [23:50] and we thank you that we can come in this way [23:50] thank you that we can study your word [23:51] yes lord [23:51] lord we ask that you would bless this study [23:51] anoint CRONUS with your spirit [23:51] yes [23:51] lord bless all that attend [23:51] give us open hearts to receive your word [23:51] thank you lord [23:52] lord bless and minister tonight [23:52] have your way here [23:52] yes [23:52] in Jesus name we ask it [23:52] amen [23:52] amen [23:52] amen [23:52] amen [23:53] Tonight we are going to study for awhile a topic that has made many choose sides. [23:53] Some call it eternal salvation [23:53] some say it is not [23:54] The point is that many good christians that could be doing great things for the Lord do nothing. [23:54] and it is because they have the feeling of guilt [23:55] from things that go on in their lives. [23:55] Satan's a professional at using condemnation to stop the child of God from fulfilling their work in the Lord [23:56] So tonight we are going to look at this from a different point. [23:57] Last night's study talked of this topic and tonight we will try and see it from a different perspective [23:58] It is time now for us to meet the Advocate of our life [23:58] as He intercedes for us on our behalf. [23:58] Picture with me the following [23:58] We are in a great hall with angels standing around on the sides watching [23:59] In front of us we see a large screen and to both sides there are podiums [00:00] We are watching as there is a sound of silence fills the hall. [00:00] Now to the podium walks the prosecutor [00:01] behind him are the demons for witnesses [00:01] now to the other podium comes Jesus [00:01] Standing in righteousness looking at the prosecutor of all mankind [00:03] Suddenly the screen comes to life with a picture of you [00:03] you hear your name called out [00:03] and the prosecutor starts his case for all to see. [00:03] Here we see this so called righteous child of God [00:03] Look at his life now today alone he has committed three or four sins [00:04] and he still says he is one of the children of God [00:04] I have the witness here that were with him when he did these deeds [00:04] they broke the law [00:05] they are not worthy of grace [00:05] or salvation [00:05] They have no will power for my witness have proved so with the tests they laid before them [00:06] Now the room is silent as the advocate speaks [00:06] I PAID THE PRICE [00:06] FOR THEIR MISTAKES [00:07] the advocate then switches the screen and they see on the screen the accused on their knees [00:07] asking for Jesus to forgive them [00:07] asking for His mercy [00:08] Now the advocate walks up to the prosecutor [00:08] and looking him in the eyes says with authority [00:09] I PAID THE PRICE! [00:09] Now it is that we have seen a story [00:10] we have an advocate who it always interceding for us [00:10] Satan is an accuser of the brethren [00:10] and not only does he do this but he also tells us we are not worthy of Jesus and His sacrifice [00:10] kjv job 1:6-7 Job 1:6 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them. Job 1:7 And the LORD said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it. [00:15] here we see that Satan is always walking the earth looking for a child of God to devour [00:15] how does he do this ? [00:15] By finding us committing a sin and then laying in the teeth of condemnation on us [00:16] he uses our mistakes to give us guilt for what we did [00:16] and cause us to feel that we have no right to stand before our Lord [00:16] He devours our faith [00:16] our confidence [00:17] and our trust [00:17] and he loves to throw it up at us [00:17] for a example of this look to peter [00:17] when he first came in contact with Jesus [00:18] kjv luke 5:8 When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord. [00:18] kjv luke 5:9-10 Luke 5:9 For he was astonished, and all that were with him, at the draught of the fishes which they had taken: Luke 5:10 And so was also James, and John, the sons of Zebedee, which were partners with Simon. And Jesus said unto Simon, Fear not; from henceforth thou shalt catch men. [00:19] how many times have we felt like this [00:19] we feel we should not be in His presence for our actions [00:19] Are we eternally condemned for making mistakes [00:20] But do you see what Jesus told Simon [00:20] Fear not [00:20] Jesus is telling you fear not [00:20] you are not standing before a judge in Jesus [00:21] You are standing in front of your advocate [00:21] We must realize that we are not perfect and we will make mistakes [00:21] but by repentance we can go to Jesus and He will hears us [00:22] If we hide from Him feeling not worthy then we will slowly go into the miry pit [00:23] not because Jesus condemned us as Satan says but because we believe the lies we are told by him [00:23] and do not go running to Jesus our advocate of life [00:24] Is this a license to freely sin [00:24] is eternal salvation a cover for continued sin [00:24] No [00:24] No [00:24] No [00:25] we are given the promise of eternal salvation through Jesus [00:25] but this does not mean we can willfully sin and then go asking for forgiveness [00:25] suppose a man takes a twenty dollar bill from his employer [00:26] then afterwards he goes and asks Jesus to forgive him [00:26] but the next day he does it again [00:26] and again and again [00:26] This is not what eternal salvation is [00:27] kjv romans 8:1-2 Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. Romans 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. [00:27] Jesus has made us free but it is that we are not bound to sin [00:28] as the people in the old testament times [00:28] This is where this topic gets touchy [00:29] too many [00:29] are we saying we condone sin [00:29] no [00:29] are we saying we do not make mistakes [00:29] no [00:29] are we saying we should live under condemnation [00:30] no [00:30] what we are saying is that if one makes a mistake and goes to Jesus and is sincere then Jesus will forgive [00:31] this is our promise [00:31] kjv matthew 12:31 Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men. [00:31] kjv mark 3:28 Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme: [00:32] kjv hebrews 8:12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more. [00:33] Condemnation is what we ourselves put upon us [00:33] Jesus is for us [00:33] he is our advocate [00:34] and that is all we have to know [00:35] kjv 1 timothy 5:25 1 Timothy 5:25 Likewise also the good works of some are manifest beforehand; and they that are otherwise cannot be hid. [00:36] It is for us to see this [00:36] for when we see this we will not fall into the trap of condemnation [00:37] kjv romans 8:31-33 Romans 8:31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? Romans 8:32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? Romans 8:33 Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth. [00:38] See when Satan comes to you and begins to replay your past--present --or even the thought of a future mistake [00:38] this is what we must remember [00:39] It is God that justifieth us [00:39] kjv romans 8:34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. [00:39] Here we see our advocate [00:39] standing in heaven pleading our case [00:40] Jesus is there for you and me [00:40] Jesus is our advocate for life [00:40] eternal life [00:40] and through Him we can overcome [00:41] any condemnation that Satan tries to lay upon us [00:41] kjv romans 8:35-36 Romans 8:35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? Romans 8:36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. [00:41] now here we find the secret to beating condemnation [00:42] daily we have to get on our knees and ask Jesus to strengthen us [00:42] help us [00:42] and if we did make a mistake to forgive us [00:42] we have to ask for Him to give us the strength to not fall into the sin again [00:43] to help us from making the mistake again [00:43] kjv romans 8:37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. [00:43] who loved us? [00:43] Jesus [00:44] Do you see that we have the advocate for us [00:44] We can defeat the devil in these things if we will see this [00:44] Now the question comes up: [00:45] What does happen when we make a mistake [00:45] does God throw us away [00:45] the answer is no [00:45] You see we each build upon a solid foundation [00:45] daily we build on it [00:45] that foundation is Jesus [00:46] and we build it by our daily works [00:46] Is the criminal that before being killed for his crime suffer damnation [00:46] from his actions if he truly accepted Jesus and asked for forgiveness [00:47] By his repentance he will face the punishment the law has set on him [00:47] but be careful how we answer this [00:47] the thief on the cross was given eternal life just before he died by Jesus [00:48] remember [00:48] one felon mocked Jesus [00:48] but the other said Jesus remember me [00:48] and Jesus said from this day forward you will be in paradise [00:48] with me [00:49] Now this thief did not have much of a foundation built [00:49] He had probably been one of the worst in society [00:49] but he did build a little on the foundation that moment [00:49] Jesus is our advocate for life [00:50] in the book of Corinthians we find a possible answer to the question> [00:50] we are all going to be looked upon for our actions [00:50] and they will be tested [00:51] look at what we find in the [00:51] Word of God [00:51] kjv 1 corinthians 3:10-11 1 Corinitains 3:10 According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon. 1 Corinitains 3:11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. [00:51] kjv 1 corinthians 3:12-13 1 Corinitains 3:12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; 1 Corinitains 3:13 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. [00:52] kjv 1 corinthians 3:14-15 1 Corinitains 3:14 If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. 1 Corinitains 3:15 If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire. [00:54] Now we have tried to look at this from a different point [00:55] Can we not see that the only way Satan can give us condemnation is if we allow him to [00:56] If he can get us to be afraid of coming to Jesus he has beaten us [00:56] Jesus is our advocate for life [00:56] kjv 1 john 3:20-21 1 John 3:20 For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things. 1 John 3:21 Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God. [00:57] See it is our hearts that can condemn us [00:57] Jesus is for us [00:57] providing we do not turn away from Him [00:58] It is that if we will let Jesus lead us and guide us and even when we make a mistake trust in Him [00:59] we can keep condemnation away and go on to work for our Lord [00:59] we are not worthy in our selves [00:59] but through Jesus we are worthy by Him [00:59] this is what we must remember [01:00] which do you want [01:00] your sins to come before you or after [01:00] Satan wants them before you for they will separate you from Jesus and trip you up [01:01] Jesus has made a way for them to come after and not be seen [01:01] kjv 1 timothy 5:25 Likewise also the good works of some are manifest beforehand; and they that are otherwise cannot be hid. [01:02] kjv 1 timothy 5:24 Some men's sins are open beforehand, going before to judgment; and some men they follow after. [01:03] Our advocate Jesus is our hope and faith [01:03] In Him we can make it [01:03] through Him we can overcome [01:03] with Him we can live eternally [01:04] all we have to do is trust [01:04] pray [01:04] and believe His promises to us [01:04] it is not us but Him that makes the way [01:04] so it is we close with [01:04] these points [01:05] 1. Our salvation is not a license to sin [01:05] 2. We will make mistakes [01:05] 3. We do have a advocate when we make the mistakes (Jesus) [01:06] 4. Thee is no condemnation in Jesus and with Him we can overcome [01:06] 5. Jesus paid the price for us [01:07] 6. We must trust in Him [01:07] 7. Even though He will forgive we still have to face the consequences [01:07] 8. We may suffer loss but through Him we are saved [01:08] 9. He is our righteousness [01:08] 10. He gave Himself for us [01:09] I hope tonight I have not confused any for what I have said [01:10] I have tried to explain it in a way that the Lord did to me [01:10] But remember we do not condone sin [01:10] sin is sin [01:10] and that is it [01:10] but also praise God we have the advocate with us [01:10] He is for us and not against us [01:11] We just have to go to Him [01:11] Jesus is our all for now and forever [01:11] amen [01:11] amen [01:11] amen [01:11] amen
