[00:00] God's Word--Alive and Speaking [00:01] Tonight we will take a little time to look at a book that throughout the history of modern man has endured all [00:01] No matter what the world has tied to do it has always overcome
[00:01] It is the largest selling Book in the world today
[00:01] Man has tried to change it and cast it down [00:02] but the harder they try the higher it is lifted up
[00:02] It is the only book that every time you open it something new comes from its pages
[00:02] and it always seems to speak to one and all in any time of their life
[00:03] Why is it that this book has survived all these years when others have been forgotten
[00:04] why does it cause so much emotional distress to the world
[00:04] but now and in its past [00:04] From it most of the worlds government have based their laws of morality
[00:05] but yet they try to eliminate it from society [00:05] It is the Holy Word of God [00:05] It is alive eternally [00:05] and it is just as powerful now as it was in the first century
[00:06] Jesus tells us this for He says the following [00:06] kjv Matthew 24:34-35 Matthew 24:34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be
fulfilled.
Matthew 24:35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
[00:06] The words of God are forever [00:07] But what is it that makes this Bible alive [00:07] and different from other books [00:07] It breathes of the Lord [00:08] In the Old testament we find the longest psalm written basically about the Word of God
[00:08] Psalm 119 is the passage that tells all of the word of God to us
[00:09] in the psalm it is described in many different ways
[00:09] as to how it effects the reader [00:09] How does it effect those who read or hear it [00:09] Some say it is only words on pages [00:10] but why is it that these pages cut to the heart and changes people forever
[00:11] The Bible has in it heart searching power [00:11] The Word of God comes into the heart of a sinner without permission
[00:11] when they hear it, it is a seed that grows [00:12] It stands in the midst of the hidden thoughts of man
[00:12] The Word reveals --What only the person knows that is wrong in their life
[00:13] It is a light in the darkness of the souls of the lost
[00:14] the Word of God also [00:14] has conscience convicting powers [00:14] In the mind of man the Word of God convicts the sins in ones life
[00:15] It shows what is hidden in the darkness and brings it to the light of truth
[00:15] and it is this truth that reveals the Lord to them
[00:15] The Word is a comforting to a dejected soul [00:16] The Bible is alive and it breathes new life into the soul that is weary of the battle
[00:16] it is like a blanket or a warm comforter when in trials and
tribulations
[00:16] Jesus is the peace to us [00:17] but it is the Word that reveals to us hope and peace for it is Jesus speaking to us

[00:18] It is incorruptible in its nature [00:18] kjv 1 peter 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
[00:18] It is loving in its message to us [00:19] kjv john 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

[00:22] Yes it is alive and well [00:22] and it is good for the body, mind , and soul [00:22] David meditated on it [00:22] Ezra read it to the people [00:22] when they were in the tribulations of rebuilding [00:23] paul preached it
[00:23] peter taught and preached it [00:23] and it is still as strong today as it was back then
[00:24] the Word of God is truly alive and not weighted down
[00:24] For we see that generations pass away but yet it is alive
[00:24] Nations arise, decay and fall [00:25] but the Word lives [00:25] Kings, rulers, and government come and go [00:25] but the Word lives forever [00:25] today who could name the 6th emperor of Rome? [00:26] Who today can name the 2nd ruler of England? [00:26] no one
[00:27] but if you ask who can name the builder of the ark
[00:27] even the lost will say Noah [00:27] who slew Goliath
[00:27] they will say David [00:27] The Word is alive [00:28] It has been hated -despised- cursed- and has even sent many people to their death when the world tried to stop it from going forth
[00:28] But it overcomes
[00:28] and still is powerful [00:28] to change lives
[00:28] and to rebuild lives [00:29] it is ridiculed by the world yet it goes on while their ideas go to the grave
[00:29] they deny its inspiration but they have never disproved it
[00:30] The Bible is the word of God [00:30] it is a living thing [00:30] it is a example to us all [00:31] for in its overcoming we can take comfort for through Jesus we will overcome through everything just as the Word of God lives on
[00:31] To believe in the word of God is to live it [00:31] to know it is to love it [00:32] to embrace it is to accept it [00:32] and to accept it is to gain Heaven through Jesus [00:32] there are 5 uses for the child of God when it comes to the Word of God

[00:38] It is a walkway for us to gain a closer relationship with the Lord
[00:38] for when we study it we are studying the will of God for our lives

[00:46] Yes the Word of God is alive and still speaking [00:46] it is still strong and good for the soul [00:47] It helped David in his trials [00:47] and it will help us also [00:47] It was with Moses in the journey [00:47] and it is with us in the journey [00:48] It was with Joshua at Jericho [00:48] and it is with us when the walls of our tribulations fall
[00:48] It was with Paul when He overcome the pains and hurts he suffered
[00:49] And likewise it is with us today [00:49] If you are hurting the Word of God is for you [00:49] If you are weary
[00:49] then the Word of God is for You [00:50] If you are frustrated then the Word of God is for you
[00:50] In closing I would like to tell a little story [00:50] During world war one there was a soldier standing in the trenches
[00:50] all around him people were dead or dying [00:51] He was surrounded by the worst of what man could do
[00:51] so as he huddled in the protection a dugout [00:52] as he huddle in the dugout he pulled out a pack of letters
[00:52] They were from his lover [00:53] slowly he read each one of them while the horrors of war raged around him
[00:53] suddenly there were two more soldiers running into the dugout for the shelling began
[00:53] they were young and scared [00:53] the soldier seeing this begin to read the letters out loud to them
[00:54] and as they listened to the words they lost their fear
[00:54] finally they left the dugout and went on [00:55] now later on they met in England [00:55] and they told the soldier how they appreciated his letters from his lover and said they wanted to see her and thank her
[00:56] The soldier smiled and said she is here now with us
[00:56] He is here now with us [00:56] the letters I read were from the Book of Solomon [00:56] the soldier had no girl friend [00:56] It was the Word of God [00:57] that brought peace to them all [00:57] then the old soldier began to tell them about Jesus and how this book was like the love Jesus had for all mankind [00:58] You see although to some they were only papers with words at that time in the trenches it was their lifesaver [00:58] it held them together while all hell broke lose around them
[00:58] today we all are like those soldiers [00:58] no matter what we are facing [00:58] whether it be a health issue [00:59] an emotional issue [00:59] a weary feeling
[00:59] frustration
[00:59] or worried of the future [00:59] all we have to do is when the shelling is going on by Satan
[01:00] as we stand in the trenches of the world fighting to save the lost
[01:00] just read the Word [01:00] the living Word
[01:00] For Jesus is the Word [01:00] AND IT IS ALIVE
[01:01] AND STILL SPEAKING TO US [01:01] TODAY
[01:01] when the lost come running into our dugout [01:01] tell them the word [01:01] present to them the Word [01:01] And you yourself believe in the word of God [01:02] and know this
