[23:38] this is usually one thing that will upset many people [23:39] and sometimes they will hang up the phone in frustration [23:39] Tonight we are going to talk about not hanging up on God [23:40] Today we live in a fast paced society where patience is not considered a virtue by the majority of the people. [23:41] We have all been acclimatized by the world to expect fast service to fulfil our needs [23:41] Just look around and see what the world today is expecting in their lifestyles [23:42] Fast food places are turning in millions of dollars for people to have their meals [23:42] and it is provided for them in minutes in many cases [23:42] Microwave cooking in the home has made preparing meals quicker [23:43] telephone calls are now faster in connecting due to the introduction of fiber optics [23:44] Internet is making it to where people around the world can speak to each other as if they are sitting side by side [23:44] What is the trick to all of this is [23:44] that the company that provides the fastest gets ahead in the world [23:44] but this is a worldly idea and not one of God's ideas [23:45] due to this experience people today are not patient for their wants [23:45] In all people do not like to wait [23:46] they want their needs now [23:46] and as quickly as they can get them [23:46] quick gratification for their needs is all they think of [23:47] And sadly this mindset is invading the thinking of many of the children of God [23:47] This is being helped among by ministers proclaiming the prosperity gospel of Christ [23:48] by their idea the petition you ask God for in prayer would and should be answered in a hurry [23:48] In a way they are trying to make God out to be the McDonalds of the spirit man [23:48] have it your way and have it now [23:49] And if they do not receive His blessing quickly then they believe they are not in the will of God [23:49] Name it--claim it--pray it--grab it [23:49] this is the way they believe [23:50] and it is this sort of idea that causes some to pull away from God because they feel they can not please Him due to the fact He is not answering their prayers quickly [23:51] they see the world and how it quickly provides needs to those who want [23:51] and the world flaunts this [23:51] To the world God is out dated [23:51] He is not able to provide needs fast enough on the time table of man [23:52] He is not a fast need provider they say [23:52] This is wrong for in truth God is not out dated [23:52] He is not slow to give forth blessings [23:52] or answer prayers [23:52] but He does do it on His time table and not mans [23:53] there is a song that is sung by many churches [23:53] it goes [23:53] He may not come when you want Him [23:53] but He is right on time [23:54] To understand this idea we must have a example to learn from [23:54] and as we always do we are now going to the word of God to find the examples for us to learn by [23:55] From the prophet Daniel we find a very good example of God answering petitions and on a man asking of God who did not hang up on Him [23:55] and so he did not miss God's message or answer [23:56] kjv Daniel 9:20-23 Daniel 9:20 And whiles I was speaking, and praying, and confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel, and presenting my supplication before the LORD my God for the holy mountain of my God; Daniel 9:21 while I was still in prayer, Gabriel, the man I had seen in the earlier vision, came to me in swift flight about the time of the evening sacrifice. Daniel 9:22 He instructed me and said to me, "Daniel, I have now come to give you insight and understanding. Daniel 9:23 At the beginning of thy supplications the commandment came forth, and I am come to shew thee; for thou art greatly beloved: therefore understand the matter, and consider the vision. [23:58] Daniel had been praying for an answer to a need in his life from God [23:58] and I am sure at this time the enemy was telling him to give up for there would be no answer [23:58] But God did show up with the answer [23:58] Daniel did not hang up [23:58] he kept on praying and believing [23:58] let us look at another of the examples of Daniel [23:59] niv Daniel 10:11-13 Daniel 10:11 He said, "Daniel, you who are highly esteemed, consider carefully the words I am about to speak to you, and stand up, for I have now been sent to you." And when he said this to me, I stood up trembling. Daniel 10:12 Then he continued, "Do not be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to them. Daniel 10:13 But the prince of the Persian kingdom resisted me twenty-one days. Then Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, because I was detained there with the king of Persia. [00:07] Now here we see where the enemy had hindered Daniel from getting his answer for a while [00:07] when we are petitioning God for a need and it seems it is taking time to get it [00:08] there is a tendency for us to stop [00:08] this is a trick of the devil [00:08] to stop us [00:08] and cause doubt to arise in the child of God's mind [00:08] perhaps we should think that [00:09] when we are about to hang up on God [00:09] that our answer is just around the corner [00:09] and sadly if we do hang up on Him then we miss His message or answer [00:09] and Satan has victoriously disconnected us from a blessing [00:10] and stopped God from receiving his glory for answering us [00:10] if Satan can get us to stop trusting in prayer [00:10] and cause us to lose the patience that the Lord has given us [00:11] then he has effectively canceled out your working effectively for the Lord [00:11] Satan in essence cancels our phone card [00:11] But Daniel did not give up he kept on the line and was answered by the Lord [00:12] You see we must have the faith to stand on the promises of God and know He is not going to forsake us [00:12] we can not hang up on Him [00:12] David is another who stayed on the line with God [00:13] when he was a boy God through His man Samuel [00:13] anointed David king of all Israel [00:13] but it was only years later that David received the promise and the blessing of being the king of Israel [00:14] yet if you look in the book of Psalms you will see that he never gave up on God [00:14] he did not hang up on Him [00:14] David stayed on the line [00:14] Now let us go to Jesus [00:14] in the new testament [00:15] for we can find the same thing for us to learn from here [00:15] Jesus had a friend named Lazarus [00:15] and his sisters Mary and Martha [00:15] Lazarus fell sick [00:15] and was on his death bed [00:15] Mary and Martha sent for Jesus [00:16] Let us say they got on the phone and begin calling [00:16] kjv john 11:1-3 John 11:1 Now a certain man was sick, named Lazarus, of Bethany, the town of Mary and her sister Martha. John 11:2 (It was that Mary which anointed the Lord with ointment, and wiped his feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.) John 11:3 Therefore his sisters sent unto him, saying, Lord, behold, he whom thou lovest is sick. [00:17] there is the call [00:17] kjv john 11:5-6 John 11:5 Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus. John 11:6 When he had heard therefore that he was sick, he abode two days still in the same place where he was. [00:17] here we see the hold taking place [00:17] why did Jesus wait [00:18] why did he not just heal Lazarus like he did the centurions servant [00:18] just by speaking [00:18] Why did Jesus wait? [00:18] was it because He did not care for His friend? [00:19] no there was a purpose to His reason for not doing so [00:19] and it is a purpose we should learn also when asking in prayer for something [00:19] He may not come when you want Him but He is always right on time [00:20] kjv john 11:20-22 John 11:20 Then Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met him: but Mary sat still in the house. John 11:21 Then said Martha unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died. John 11:22 But I know, that even now, whatsoever thou wilt ask of God, God will give it thee. John 11:23 Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again. [00:21] Martha is here and do you see she did not han up on the Lord [00:21] she stayed on the line [00:21] kjv john 11:32 Then when Mary was come where Jesus was, and saw him, she fell down at his feet, saying unto him, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died. [00:22] Now as the story goes on we see that Mary was about to hang up the line [00:22] but Jesus went to the tomb and answered the prayer [00:22] and Lazarus arose again [00:22] Jesus answered the petition [00:22] Martha stayed in the line [00:22] Mary was about to hang up [00:23] but Jesus answered the request and they received the blessing of their brother returning [00:23] Now here we find a very good point [00:23] Jesus did the blessing at the right time [00:23] to show the world the power and glory of God [00:24] in a way that it could only be considered a miracle [00:24] You see [00:24] when others around you see you praying for a need [00:24] and they see you not giving up or showing doubts [00:25] for you know God is going to provide [00:25] then when the answer comes you are a witness to those around you [00:25] that God does answer the prayers of those who have faith in Him and do not hang up on Him [00:26] and through your blessing He is glorified to the world [00:26] and so it was with Lazarus [00:26] Jesus answered the request at the right time [00:27] He did not come when they wanted but He was right on time [00:27] and He is the same for you and me [00:27] if we just keep on praying in faith and do not doubt [00:27] Let us see some keys now for us to cling to when we are on the phone line to God [00:28] kjv psalm 37:7-9 Psalms 37:7 Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass. Psalms 37:8 Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil. Psalms 37:9 For evil men will be cut off, but those who hope in the LORD will inherit the land. [00:29] Do not fret for your answer is forthcoming [00:29] kjv psalm 40:1-3 Psalms 40:1 I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. Psalms 40:2 He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. Psalms 40:3 And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD. [00:29] You by example to others will show forth glory for God [00:29] the answer is forthcoming [00:30] kjv lamentations 3:26 It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD. [00:30] kjv romans 5:3 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; [00:30] kjv romans 8:25 But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it. [00:31] this means don't hang up [00:31] You may miss the message [00:31] from the lord [00:31] the answer is forth coming [00:31] hold on and wait with patience [00:31] kjv hebrews 10:35-37 Hebrews 10:35 Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward. Hebrews 10:36 For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. Hebrews 10:37 For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry. [00:32] Jesus is coming with the answer for your need [00:32] He is going to make you victorious [00:32] and His promises for you are true ' [00:32] just keep on the line [00:33] He may not come when you want Him but He is always right on time' [00:33] kjv isaiah 40:31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. [00:33] kjv isaiah 30:18 And therefore will the LORD wait, that he may be gracious unto you, and therefore will he be exalted, that he may have mercy upon you: for the LORD is a God of judgment: blessed are all they that wait for him. [00:34] kjv psalm 145:14-15 Psalms 145:14 The LORD upholdeth all that fall, and raiseth up all those that be bowed down. Psalms 145:15 The eyes of all wait upon thee; and thou givest them their meat in due season. [00:34] God will give you your petitions [00:34] but they will be by His will and not yours [00:34] He knows what is best for you [00:35] he knows the future from the past [00:35] If it is in your good He will provide it to you [00:35] but the trick is do not give up [00:35] do not doubt [00:35] believe in His promises [00:36] kjv matthew 17:20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. [00:36] In closing tonight [00:37] let me say I know there are many needs for all of us [00:37] and I know it is hard to wait upon the Lord [00:37] it is a test of our faith [00:37] but I tell you now [00:37] DO NOT DOUBT [00:37] DO NOT FEAR [00:38] DO NOT GIVE UP [00:38] For your answer is forthcoming [00:38] stay on the phone line to God [00:38] believe and do not be deceived [00:38] Satan is a liar [00:38] a tricker [00:39] if he is telling you tonight it is no use [00:39] just hang up the phone [00:39] command him to go [00:39] in the name of Jesus now [00:39] and stay on that line [00:39] stay on that line [00:39] stay on that line [00:39] for our answer is forth coming [00:40] your need is going to be filled by His will [00:40] and so it is [00:40] stay on the line and see the glory of God [00:40] show the glory of God [00:40] and believe in the glory of God [00:40] for your answer is forthcoming [00:41] and remember [00:41] and remember [00:41] and remember [00:41] DON'T HANG UP ON GOD--YOU MAY MISS HIS MESSAGE [00:41] amen
