[22:26] WtDove changes topic to "Bible Study........Worthless Rocks To
Building Blocks"
[22:26] The study to night is close to me for it was given to me about 12 years ago but God would not let me give it to any church I have preached at.
[22:27] And when I asked why He would always say it is for a special time of my choosing
[22:28] God is using the net as a new field of out reach and now is the time he wanted this study given here in this room tonight.
[22:28] Tonight I would like to start with a story [22:29] and the walkway that is in this story is just outside my front door and I am looking at it now [22:29] Once upon a time there was a man who decided to build a walkway through his front yard to his house. And so he went to the city council to ask for permission to take some of the bricks from the rubble pile that had once been an abandoned building. Since the council thought that every piece of useless rubble taken would save them the money it would
[22:29] take to transport it to the landfill, so they happily agreed to the request. So the man spent days going through the pile of rubble and took the bricks down to his front yard. When he thought he had enough to finish the walk he then begin to clean them up so they could be fitted together into the walkway. Now as he chipped away the old mortar and soaked them in the bucket of water he begin to notice the cracks and discoloration from
[22:30] left their marks. He even began to notice that sometimes during the cleaning process the brick would chip or break but instead of throwing them out he kept them knowing that they would fulfill some use in his project. With the cleaning done it was time to start laying the bricks to form a solid walkway for people to walk over to get to his front door.
[22:31] Slowly but surely he set each brick in place on a layer of cement laying each one side by side to form the walk. Sometimes he would use a broken or chipped brick to fill in a space to keep the walk solid and strong. Finally after he laid the last brick in place he spread sand over the top of it to fill in the spaces between the laid bricks so as to keep them
[22:31] from shifting side to side which would weaken the walkway. Then he took water and wet it all down to take the residue off and solidify the bricks into a strong walk. Now after the walk was finished the people of the town who had been watching the progress of the work came by and looked amazed at how nice it looked for being made out of useless rubble.
[22:32] Now from the story above we can glean the following spiritual points about how God works to build His children for His kingdom work.-------1.What the world sees as useless and worthless God can see as a precious gem for His work.////2. By chipping off the sin that clings to the soul God brings forth a new man for His kingdom work.////3.Taking off the old sin reveals the effects of a secular life and the scars that it leaves.
[22:33] 4.That although we may be broken or damaged He still has a place for us in His family.///5.It takes three elements to solidify His children into a unified body to do His bidding.///6.when people see the way that what was considered useless is now formed into a useful beautiful life they stand amazed.
[22:34] In the Word of God we find the following on this [22:34] kjv psalm 51:1-2
Psalms 51:1 Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.
Psalms 51:2 Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.
[22:35] kjv psalm 51:3-5
Psalms 51:3 For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.
Psalms 51:4 Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou
mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.
Psalms 51:5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.
[22:35] kjv psalm 51:6-8
Psalms 51:6 Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom. Psalms 51:7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
Psalms 51:8 Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.
[22:36] kjv psalm 51:9-11 Psalms 51:9 Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.
Psalms 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
Psalms 51:11 Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.
[22:36] kjv psalm 51:12-13 Psalms 51:12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.
Psalms 51:13 Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.
[22:37] Here we see that god breaks the sin of man off and makes him a useful tool for bringing the lost to Him out of the darkness.
[22:38] For as it says ; I will teach the transgressor Your ways and the sinner shall be converted to You [22:39] It is by this way that God shows forth His delivering power and His love to a lost and hurting world. [22:40] This He does by using the converted to show forth His glory
[22:40] Let s now take a look at these spiritual points [22:41] kjv john 7:24 Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.
[22:41] kjv 1 samuel 16:6-7 1 Samuel 16:6 And it came to pass, when they were come, that he looked on Eliab, and said, Surely the LORD's anointed is before him. 1 Samuel 16:7 But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart. [22:42] Spiritual Point One In these days we are now living in both the saint and the sinner are guilty of making presumptions about people from what they perceive. How many times have we heard or said: >>>He's never going to change!>>>Just look at them they don't want help!>>>They can't change they were born bad.>>>Just give up they will never change!>>
[22:42] My how sad these saying are for they present a picture for people and their attitudes towards others. It is a atrocity for us to trust our senses instead of looking upon others as God sees them. We have all been guilty of the Samuel syndrome for we can not see what God sees in a person. They may be the rankest vilest sinner we have ever met but under the eye of God they may be a gem of great worth in the rough.
[22:44] Is it so hard for us to realize that we forget what the word of God tells us.
[22:44] kjv psalm 103:1-2 Psalms 103:1 Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.
Psalms 103:2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:
[22:44] kjv psalm 103:3-4 Psalms 103:3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;
Psalms 103:4 Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;
[22:45] kjv psalm 147:2-3 Psalms 147:2 The LORD doth build up Jerusalem: he gathereth together the outcasts of Israel.
Psalms 147:3 He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.
[22:45] kjv proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. [22:46] kjv proverbs 21:2 Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the LORD pondereth the hearts. [22:46] So like the man in the story we must look at things and people differently. What we see as a lost cause and worthless may be a future mighty warrior for God to save many lost souls. Instead of useless rubble they may be a intricate part needed to make the body of Christ whole and more effective in reaching the lost. [22:47] Lie the song by Ray Boltz says: When others see a shepherd boy--God may see a king
[22:48] Let us not be guilty and find out in heaven that the people we thought were useless or lost causes turn out to be some of the mighty pillars for the outreaching of the Kingdom of God to the lost world. =
[22:49] kjv john 3:6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. [22:49] kjv romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
[22:49] kjv romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. [22:50] Spiritual Point Two No one is perfect for we all have faults and have fallen short of a sinless life. In truth we have no righteousness in ourselves but only through Jesus do we have righteousness. So when we all come out of the rubble pile of sin we had the filth of our iniquities clinging to us. It is like the old mortar on the bricks and until it is removed we are useless for God's work in His body.
[22:50] Sin keeps us from fitting in to place and helping to fulfill the plan of God. For God can not abide sin and we must let the Holy Spirit chip off the remains of any sins that are still clinging to us. It is only if one allows the Holy Spirit to freely work in our lives and our heart that we can be cleaned and prepared to become a intricate part of the
[22:52] Body of Christ which is the walkway for the lost to come to the door of God and let Him come into their lives. [22:52] It is only by the grace and the blood of Jesus that we can stand before God and petition for others and ourselves and it is only by this that the Holy Spirit can flow and change our habits and lifestyles for others to see Jesus in our lives. And this same change can happen to the people we come into contact with as we go about our fathers work. If sin clings to us because we choose not to let it go then the Holy Spirit
[22:53] can not flow and we can not become a part of the Body of Christ in its workings for saving the lost. Now if we do not fit into the Body of Christ perfectly by allowing the work of the Holy Spirit in us then instead of making a strong walkway for God we become a weak uneffective brick that will hinder instead of helping the saving of lost. We can not operate smoothly in our gifts along with our brothers and
[22:53] sisters in Christ if there is any sins clinging to us. And then we would become a stumbling block to the whole moving in the will of God by the Body. For the Body of Christ to flow smoothly in the gifts and saving the lost we must all be perfectly joined together in the spirit so that by the Holy spirit we can help others to find God and be liberated from the darkness,
[22:55] So like the story we must be like the bricks and let God chip away the clinging sin in our lives so we can be perfectly joined to Him and with the Body to form a strong walkway for the lost to come to God.
[22:55] kjv romans 6:3-4
Romans 6:3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
Romans 6:4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. [22:55] kjv acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. [22:56] kjv isaiah 53:4-5
Isaiah 53:4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. Isaiah 53:5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
[22:56] Spiritual Point Three When we have gone through the process of cleansing by the Holy Spirit and all our clinging sins have been removed the effects of our sinful past is revealed for all to see. These scars and wounds although healed still remain in our spiritual bodies. Now we may ask; why does God allow these to stay with us when He could easily wipe
[22:56] them away.
[22:58] You see the bricks were each one differently scarred and the scars told the story of their past life where the elements of sin and strife was inflicted upon them. [22:59] Now the thing about this is that when all the bricks are joined together they give a character to the walkway in a way man could never manually accomplish.
[23:00] All the shades of discoloration and the different tracks of the cracks added a esthetic quality to the eyes of the beholder of the walk.
[23:01] And so it is with us and our past scars that we become part of the body and make it while. [23:02] For as the lost look at the body and see all the different scars of our past life they see how God can glorify us and in return He can do the same for them for His work in the body [23:03] Thus the Body of Christ shows to the lost a esthetic quality that they will want in their lives. [23:03] kjv 2 Corinthians 1:3-5 2 Corinthians 1:3 Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; 2 Corinthians 1:4 Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God. 2 Corinthians 1:5 For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ.
[23:05] You see if they are having any problems In their own walk with God they can find others who in the past had the same kind of troubles
[23:06] and can feel comfortable in going to them for advice knowing that if God pulled them through He would also do it for them.
[23:07] It is the scars of our past that helps us to present Jesus to a lost and hurting world and bring them out of bondage
[23:07] By seeing the body be overcomers through Christ they can have confidence in the promises of God to them [23:09] with the sin chipped away they see the scars and see that through prayer, trust. and faith in God , that He can heal us and that His love is eternal.
[23:10] And so it is as in the story that each of us like the bricks are like a piece of a puzzle that when put together portray a perfect picture of God's
[23:10] healing
[23:10] love
[23:10] and grace
[23:10] to a lost soul that is walking down the walkway to meet God.
[23:11] kjv romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
[23:11] kjv ephesians 4:4-6 Ephesians 4:4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;
Ephesians 4:5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism, Ephesians 4:6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.
[23:11] kjv Galatians 3:26-27 Galatians 3:26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
Galatians 3:27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
[23:12] kjv 1 Corinthians 12:13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. [23:13] Spiritual Point Four
[23:15] One of the main tactics of Satan on any new member of the body of Christ is that they are of no use to God because of their past or because of a flaw that the person may have in their body. he hits them with such things as:
[23:15] Your are too old to work for God. [23:15] You can not do it physically. [23:15] You are not worthy. [23:15] You are too sick. [23:16] You are too young. [23:16] You do not have the knowledge to help others [23:16] You make too many mistakes. [23:17] Now besides the ones above he has many other reasons to cause a person to not even try and fit into the Body of Christ and work for God.
[23:18] Is this not like the bricks in our story that were broken or chipped during the cleaning process? [23:20] The Holy Spirit can clean us but our depth that we participated in sin can some time cause chips in us or even break us in some way. But although we may see ourselves damaged and unusable [23:20] God can use us if we will only let Him. [23:21] It may not have even been sin that caused he chip but no matter what it was that caused it God can and will still use anyone who has a wiling heart to work for Him. [23:22] It is through Jesus that are imperfections are made perfect in God's eyes and this is the point we must all realize and make those coming to Him see too.
[23:23] No matter what we all have a special spot that God needs us to filling His body
[23:24] In truth your damage may be the very thing that brings another to God as they see how God is using you. [23:24] so like the broken bricks in the story there is a spot that only you and you alone can fill for Him. [23:24] amen
[23:25] this is what it takes to build the strong walkway to help others come to God for without you the body if not solid or whole.
[23:25] is not solid or whole. [23:26] the way you are is all God is looking for and you no matter your damage are a precious gem for his walkway. [23:26] the way
[23:27] Spiritual Point five [23:27] kjv 1 Corinthians 12:12-14 1 Corinthians 12:12 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.
1 Corinthians 12:13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
1 Corinthians 12:14 For the body is not one member, but many. [23:27] kjv galatians 3:27-28 Galatians 3:27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
Galatians 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
[23:28] kjv romans 12:3-5 Romans 12:3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
Romans 12:4 For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office:
Romans 12:5 So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.
[23:28] kjv ephesians 4:4-6 Ephessians 4:4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;
Ephessians 4:5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism, Ephessians 4:6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.
[23:28] In the story the man used three elements to anchor the bricks in place.
[23:29] It is through Jesus that we are all anchored to the Father and by Him that we are one body for Him to work through. [23:30] What are these three anchoring elements that make the body solid and unified with one goal working together to achieve it?
[23:30] well the cement in the story is; [23:31] the anchoring through Jesus for us to the Father [23:31] the sand is like: [23:31] the Word of God
[23:32] and the water is like; [23:32] the Holy Spirit
[23:32] By the sacrifice of Jesus and His precious blood we are all made one in sprit even though we are different. [23:32] amen
[23:33] in the spiritual family of God [23:33] It is by Jesus that we work together as one in one mind and accord
[23:33] Jesus holds us together in our place so we are to be a part of the whole
[23:34] In the story the sand was used to fill the gaps between the bricks so they would not shift side to side weakening the walk
[23:34] and breaking them away from the base [23:35] It is by the Word that we are kept from shifting one way or the other as Satan tries to lure us to different places [23:36] The word tells and shows us that our differences do not matter for we are all under one rule of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
[23:37] the Word keeps us from shifting to false doctrines proposed by man
[23:37] The word shows us how we are to live our lives [23:38] it is the word that tells us how to work and live with each other for the glory of God
[23:38] by Jesus and the Word of God that we are a solid walk for God
[23:39] now it is the Holy spirit that empowers and packs the body of Christ into a solid working organization [23:39] It continually washes the residue off of us [23:40] the Holy spirit fills the gaps between us and allows the saving power of God to flow through the body as a whole [23:41] The Holy Spirit is the binding force that holds us together as one body with many members
[23:41] These are the three elements like in the story that makes us a strong walkway for the lost to come to God on [23:42] spiritual Point six [23:42] too many sinners when they first come to God are looked upon as being unapproachable
[23:43] or as having something wrong with them [23:44] But as they are cleaned and prepared by God for His body and His work they begin to show forth the beauty of Jesus to the world.
[23:44] Prepared by the Holy Spirit [23:44] cleaned by the blood of Jesus [23:45] and by the word of God [23:45] they become a useable part of the body as a whole
[23:46] We were all unsightly when we first came to God but it was by His preparation that we wee made clean and the world begin noticing the changes in our habits and our lifestyles [23:46] hate changed to love [23:46] sadness changed to joy [23:47] anger to peace
[23:47] wickedness to righteousness [23:47] and other such things catches the attention of others
[23:48] when they see the ugliness changed to beauty they stand amazed and want what they see for themselves [23:48] so like the people in the story; [23:49] they see the body of Christ made of different people from different place become unified in the peace and love of Jesus.
[23:49] they see what they thought was rubble changed into a useful thing of beauty
[23:50] they see
[23:51] worthless rocks changed to building blocks hat make a walkway for the lost and hurting to cross over the mire and the muck of the world to find and have Jesus come into their lives [23:51] For the glory to God [23:51] for His grace abides forever [23:51] amen
[23:51] He changes us from rubble [23:51] to precious gems for His body [23:52] you are each and every one special and a intricate part of God's body to work here on the net [23:53] You are all bricks in the walkway over the net for others to come to God
[23:53] Praise God for all He is doing now and forever [23:53] amen
[23:53] thank you
[23:53] amen
[23:53] amen
[23:53] Amen
