Bible Study....Anchors Of Prayer In A Stormy Sea Of suffering [00:49] Tonight we are going to talk about anchors of Prayer in a stormy sea. of suffering [00:49] Topic: Anchors Of Prayer In a stormy Sea Of Suffering [00:50] in our every day living we are beset by trials and tribulations. [00:50] And it is something that we must face daily but through Jesus we always can get through. [00:51] Let us first look at three promises we have from the Word of God on this . [00:51] kjv 1 john 5:14-15 1 John 5:14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: 1 John 5:15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him. [00:51] Now here we are told : [00:52] 1. He listens when we pray. [00:52] 2. He promises us we will have what we ask . [00:52] 3. He gives us the petitions of our desire. [00:53] Now although we have these promises sometimes we may think if this is true why do we suffer? [00:54] In truth Jesus never said we would have a easy life when we came to him. [00:54] and in the world we are going to face tribulations. [00:56] No matter the circumstance in life we face we will be victorious over them and to overcome them the victory is only as far as the space from our knees to the floor> [00:56] In the New Testament we find where the disciples once asked the Lord how to pray and He showed them . [00:57] Now the prayer He gave was not a formula for all but it was a example of how we should pray [00:58] for in the Lords prayer as we call it there are the building foundation blocks that we can use as we pray. [00:58] Prayer is not a incantation like some say , and it is not a power to force God to give. [00:58] We each must develop our own style of prayer. [00:59] kjv matthew 6:9-11 Matthew 6:9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Matthew 6:10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Mathew 6:11 Give us this day our daily bread. [00:59] kjv matthew 6:12-13 Mathew 6:12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. Mathew 6:13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. [01:00] Now here is the building blocks we can use. [01:00] 1. Our father in heaven ( Personal relationship with Him) [01:00] . Hallowed be thy name. (worship) [01:01] Your kingdom come (expectation) [01:01] Your will be done (submission) [01:01] as it is in heaven [01:02] Give us this day our daily read (Petition) [01:02] And forgive us our debtors(confession) [01:02] As we forgive our debtors. (Compassion) [01:03] and do not lead us into temptation but deliver us from evil (dependance) [01:04] For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever ( acknowledgment) [01:04] These are the building block we use when we pray to God. [01:05] When we begin to pray in this way with the authority that the Lord has given us> [01:05] then all the demons in hell begin running for shelter for they know that this will release the power of God on them [01:06] Now Satan is no pushover and when we pray like this he will try to stop us with lies. and cause doubt to arise in us. [01:06] sometime during the storm we ask: [01:06] why do I suffer Lord? [01:07] If you grant my petitions why do you let others hurt me? [01:07] Why although I asked you to help this person did you let it end this way? [01:07] these are just a few question that arise and can side track us from the power God is giving us. [01:08] In truth it is God's will that we must seek in a situation and sometime we do not like the answer but there is a reason for it. [01:09] God knows the future we do not and we must trust in Him for our lives. [01:09] Why does God let me suffer? [01:10] I am like the boat on the sea of suffering being beaten by the waves [01:10] and I am being pushed onto the rocks of despair to be broken and destroyed in the sea of suffering. [01:11] This is what the devil wants us to feel at these times for to do so is a sure way to be defeated. [01:11] but thank God He has given us a anchor to hold to as the storm rages to keep us on His course. [01:12] In a fierce storm a ship can be drug or pushed by the waves. [01:12] and it will drag the anchor on the bottom as it is pushed [01:13] but when the hooks of the anchor catch onto a rock outcropping or a coral deposit [01:13] the anchor digs in and holds the boat by a chain away from the death on the rocks. [01:13] and this is like us in tribulation and suffering [01:15] we have to plant our hooks in prayer to God and let our anchor hook, the word of God and the Holy spirit, to hold us away from the rocks of despair and depression and doubt so as not to have our dream dashed and destroyed. [01:15] Friends may hurt us but Jesus helps us [01:16] Life may throw us down but Jesus picks us up [01:17] infirmity may hit us but Jesus heals us either physically or mentally. [01:17] Prayer is our anchor of hope in the world of strife. [01:17] kjv romans 8:34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. [01:18] Although we may be hit with problems we take comfort in knowing that Jesus hears us and intercedes for us always. [01:19] thank you Lord [01:19] and we will not be torn away from that rock by the waves of Satan for it is our anchor in the sea of suffering [01:19] kjv romans 8:34-35 Romans 8:34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. Romans 8:35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? [01:20] Nothing, no matter what Satan tell us in our times of suffering can pull us away from our Lord who is our anchor. [01:20] in this we can take comfort. [01:20] amen [01:21] Now although the suffering may look to us insurmountable we must remember as the waves come crashing in : [01:22] kjv mark 10:27 And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible. [01:22] No matter the size of the waves Jesus our anchor will hold us true [01:23] Now when Satan come and begins spreading lies at us during suffering we must tell him. [01:23] kjv romans 8:27-28 Romans 8:27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. [01:24] this is what holds us on course during the storm and Satan knows and can do nothing to hurt us. [01:24] Man will hurt us–God will not [01:24] Man will fail us--God will not [01:25] Man will use us and lie to us–God will not [01:25] these are the anchor hooks we must remember to hold our course in the stormy sea [01:26] Now why does God let us suffer; [01:26] why does he let us hurt? [01:26] Why when we have done all does he allow things to happen [01:26] that may cause sorrow [01:26] Like the loss of a loved one [01:27] or the betrayal by one we thought was a friend? [01:28] If you have thought these things then be careful for Satan is trying to get you to hoist up your anchor and go on your own [01:28] Suffering does the following for us: [01:28] 1. Until we suffer we tend to look down on those hurting and think of them as weak. [01:30] 2. By experiencing suffering we know what the other person is going through and we will be able to pray and help that person more effectively. [01:30] kjv 2 Corinthians 1:4 Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God. [01:32] 3. suffering cause us to grow spiritually in God for as He answers our prayers our confidence in Him grows. [01:32] kjv romans 5:1-3 Romans 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: Romans 5:2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Romans 5:3 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; [01:32] kjv romans 5:4-5 Romans 5:4 And patience, experience; and experience, hope: Romans 5:5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. [01:33] By our experiencing suffering and tribulations we can be more effective in our ministry to the needy and as we see God answering we can face the next wave of tribulation more confident [01:34] For we know that God will always pull us through [01:34] We must stay in the will of God as we pray. [01:34] this is a must [01:35] and we will have to remember this. [01:35] Yes we are but a ship on the sea of life. [01:36] Sailing for the safe harbor of our Master [01:36] and as we go we will be battered by storms of strife [01:36] suffering [01:36] and tribulations [01:36] disappointments [01:37] and infirmities [01:37] but praise God for the anchor we have in Him [01:37] for when storms of hell batter us [01:37] the anchor which is Jesus will hold [01:38] like the song by Ray Boltz [01:38] The anchor holds [01:38] Though the ship is battered [01:38] The anchor holds though the sails are torn [01:38] I have fallen on my knees [01:39] When I faced the raging seas__ [01:39] But the anchor holds [01:39] In spite of the storm. [01:40] And thus we come to the end of the study Anchors of Prayer through a Stormy Sea [01:40] Lord [01:40] Thank you Lord [01:40] amen [01:40] Let us tonight [01:40] cast our anchor in you [01:40] thank you Jesus that you are our anchor [01:41] yes [01:41] As the tribulations and trials fall on us [01:41] let us remember you hold us safe and secure with your promises [01:41] yes lord [01:41] thank you [01:41] let us always remember [01:42] you guide us with loving hands [01:42] and set our course on the sea of life [01:42] we ask now in the name of Jesus [01:42] heal those we know and those here of any wounds they have suffered [01:42] give us your strength [01:43] and comfort as we prepare to go on [01:43] for You [01:43] yes lord [01:43] oh, thank you Lord [01:43] Let us always be sensitive to those who are being battered by the storms of life [01:43] yes [01:44] and be the lighthouse that will set them back on course for your safe harbor [01:44] yes lord [01:44] for your glory [01:44] in this we ask in the name of Jesus [01:44] amen [01:44] amen [01:44] amen
